LAHORE, Nov 25: Pakistan Olympic Association secretary general, Muhammad Latif Butt, has been retained as member of the sports committee of the Commonwealth Games Association in its meeting held at Montego Bay, Jamaica on Nov 12 and 13.
Latif said on Tuesday that he was retained to represent the Asian region in the committee and he was elected unopposed.
POA secretary, said that apart from elections of the main office-bearers and sports committee, the other important task for the general assembly was the selection of the host city for 2010 Commonwealth Games.
India won the bid and will organise the Games in New Delhi. Michael Fennell, from Jamaica has been elected president of the Commonwealth Games while Louise Martin (Scotland) as honorary secretary.
