Challenge tie between Saleh and Advani
KARACHI, Nov 25: Pakistan’s world amateur snooker championship runner-up Saleh Muhammad will play a challenge match against world champion Pankaj Advani of India during his visit to Karachi next month.
Indians are due to arrive on Dec 16 to play a three-Test snooker series against arch-rivals Pakistan to be played at Karachi Club Billiards Hall from Dec 16 to 20, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) chief Ali Asghar Valika disclosed on Tuesday.
Advani beat Saleh Muhammad 11-6 in a marathon encounter in the world championship at Jiangmen City (China) on Oct 25.
Test series matches will be played from Dec 17 to 19 and the challenge match will be fixed in between. A prize of
Rs 50,000 will be on offer for the best-of-seven-frame encounter.
Besides Advani other members of Indian team are Yasin Merchant, Alok Kumar Mannan Chandra.
Former world billiards champion Michael Ferreira will be officiating as manager-cum-coach of the team.
Pakistan number one Khurram Agha, Saleh Muhammad, Naveen Perwani and former world and Asian champion Muhammad Yousuf will be representing Pakistan in the Test series.
A cash purse of Rs 120,000 will be offered in the Test series with the winning team will get Rs 80,000 and runner-up pocketing Rs 40,000. —APP
