KARACHI, Nov 25: Mohammad Hussain CC (MHCC) annexed the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan festival trophy, beating Pak Gymkhana by 64 runs at the Aga Khan Gymkhana ground on Tuesday.
Winning the toss, Mohammad Hussain CC elected to bat and their openers Agha Sabir (41) and M. Rizwan (46), gave them a tremendous start slamming 88 runs for the first wicket in only 8.3 overs.
But with the introduction of Yahya Toor and Aamir Hanif, the run rate was soon curtailed. In the remaining 14 overs, MHCC added 93 more runs losing another seven wickets, to reach 181 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 25 allotted overs. Saad Omer chipped in with 20 runs.
Aamir Hanif three for 24, Yahya Toor two for 25 and Farman Shah two for 36, were among the wickets for the fielding side.
Chasing 182 runs for victory, Pak Gymkhana also got off to a good start when left-hander M. Gazan (36) and Atta ur Rehman (34), put on 73 runs for the opening wicket.
After Ghazan’s dismissal, leg-spinner Arif Mehmood five for 18 and left-arm spinner Omer Farooqi four for 33, ran through the Pak Gymkhana batting line-up and the team was bowled out for 117 runs in 22.3 overs, losing their last nine wickets for 44 runs.
Arif Mehmood was named the Man of the Match at the final.
MHCC and Pak Gymkhana received Rs.50,000 and Rs.25,000.
Tariq Rashid of Baqai Dolphins scoring 111 runs and picking up six wickets was Named the Best Player of the tournament.
Imran Omar of Shaheen Gymkhana scoring 182 runs in three innings was declared the Best Batsman, while Shaukat Rajput with eight wickets for 84 runs was declared the Best Bowler.
