Prisoners set free on Eid

GUJRANWALA, Nov 25: As many as 130 prisoners were released on the directives of district and sessions judge on the occasion of Eid on Tuesday.

The judge visited the jail for two days and ordered the release of prisoners involved in petty crimes.

Some of the captives told him that they were implicated in false cases by police at behest of their rivals. Some were poor and could not arrange funds for their bail.

SAHIWAL: Seven prisoners were released from the Sahiwal Central Jail under the amnesty granted by the president of Pakistan.

On the orders of the district and sessions judges of Okara, Sahiwal and Pakpattan, 49 prisoners were released on Tuesday, while different courts ordered the release of 145 prisoners.

SHEIKHUPURA: Some 238 prisoners were released from the local District Jail on the orders of district and sessions judge Khan Talib Husain on Tuesday.
