KARACHI, Nov 25: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Tuesday visited the roads where repair, patch work and carpeting is urgently required, as pointed out by President’s House, Islamabad.

Accompanied by DCO Mir Hussain Ali, EDO Works and Services Shoaib Siddiqui and Adviser to the City Nazim Salim Azhar, the City Nazim issued instructions to the officials for accelerating the construction work.

The roads identified by President’s House include Mauripur Road (from ICI Bridge to Gulbai Chowk), Site Road (from Gulbai Chowk to Habib Bank), I. I. Chundrigar Road, Boating Basin Road and Korangi Road.

The MD, Site, briefed the City Nazim about tenders invited for the road construction between Habib Bank and Gulbai Chowk and said that the work would be initiated soon.

Carpeting and repairing of road between ICI bridge and Gulbai Chowk, a section which is part of the under-construction Northern Bypass, would be undertaken soon by the National Highway Authority as directed by the NHA Chairman Maj-Gen Farrukh Javed on the telephonic request by the City Nazim.

The City Nazim was told during the visit to the I. I. Chundrigar Road that repair and patch work there was fast nearing completion.

Repair work on the road linking Boating Basin with Ziauddin University is also under way, the officials maintained and said that the remaining portion of the road, named Shahrah-i-Ghalib, had been included in the Taameer-i-Karachi Programme and would be completed by the KPT. — PPI
