HYDERABAD, Nov 25: The proposal to hand over the Hyderabad Development Authority to the district government is under consideration of the government and a decision in this regard will be taken soon.
This was stated by the adviser to the Sindh chief minister for local government, Waseem Akhtar, here on Monday while talking to journalists at an Iftar dinner for Wasa pensioners.
He said that the HDA had recently paid Rs50 million to Hesco to clear its dues and added that a meeting between the HDA and Hesco officials would be held after Eid to resolve the issue of pending bills.
Mr Akhtar warned that action would be taken against those builders who had occupied or sold out amenity plots in various housing schemes.
He further said that those builders and developers, who had not sought approval from the HDA before launching housing schemes, had already been issued notices.
He said that the assistance of the police would be sought to stop illegal constructions.
Earlier, the adviser distributed Rs20 million pension dues among 95 retired employees of the Water And Sanitation Agency of the HDA.
The payment of the amount had been withheld for about nine years due to paucity of funds and 15 pensioners had reportedly died during this period.
Sindh Sports Minister Naeem Ishtiaq and HDA director- general Ali Ahmed Lund also spoke on the occasion.
PEASANT COMMITTEE: The Sindh Hari Committee has decided to launch a movement after Eid to protest against injustices being meted out to Sindh.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the central committee of the organization held here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the committee president, Azhar Jatoi, said that those, who were supporting the greater Thal canal and Kalabagh dam projects, were betraying the cause of Sindh.
