Aptma case hearing put off

KARACHI, Nov 25: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday put off hearing on a petition of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association chairman Waqar Monnoo till December 1. In his petition Waqar Monnoo sought court’s verdict to annul a resolution of 14 members of the Managing Committee of Aptma that declared elections of the chairman as null and void.

The petition came up for hearing on Monday, which was then put off till Tuesday. On Tuesday the hearing was adjourned after Eidul Fitr on December 1.

In a related development a three-member tribunal of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry has summoned Aptma chairman Waqar Monnoo and 17 members of the Managing Committee on December 3.

The three-member tribunal is headed by Sheikh Maqbool, vice-president of the FPCCI, and two other members are Fakhr Iqbal and Captain Rashid Abro. The tribunal has been formed on complaint of Waqar Monnoo in Aptma election dispute by FPCCI president Riaz Tata.

The Director Trade Organizations (DTO), a joint secretary at the commerce ministry, is reported to have also recorded evidence from both the parties involved in the Aptma election dispute.
