KARACHI, Nov 24: Balajee International bridge championship will be held at Lahore Gymkhana from Dec 11 to 14, Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) announced on Monday.

Besides 16 teams from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Jordan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India will be featuring in the four-day competition, PBF secretary Tariq Rasheed Khan said.

He said cash prizes worth rupees half a million will be at stake in the championship.

The winning team will collect Rs 120,000, runners-up Rs 70,000, third position Rs 45,000 while fourth and fifth positions Rs 22,000 and Rs 12,000 respectively.

The winners in the Pair contest will receive Rs 100,000, runners-up Rs 60,000 while next four positions to get Rs 40,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000.

Pair and Eight rounds of 16 board will be played during the championship which will be played on Sswiss League system.

He said all the foreign teams have confirmed their participation and hoped that the event will give great exposure and experience to the Pakistan teams.

Lahore Bridge Association is holding the event on behalf of PBF and Ihsan Qadir is the tournament director of this prestigious event.—APP
