GUJRANWALA, Nov 24: A local court issued non-bailable warrant for arrest of an MPA and his men, who did not appear in court on Monday in a murder case registered against them.

The court directed the police to produce them before the judge on Nov 29, which has been fixed as the next date of hearing.

Mian Muhammad Saeed, a resident of Shahdara, filed a complaint with a local court against MPA Mudassar Qayyum Nahara and 51 others, including the SHOs of Gakkhar and Wazirabad police stations, for killing Islami Jamiat Tulaba Nazim Sultan Saeed and his associate, Abidullah, in a fake encounter. The incident took place near Aujala Kalan canal bridge in Wazirabad on Aug 1, 1996. However, the police did not register a case against them.

The court also ordered forfeiture of salaries of the Gakkhar police station SHO and moharrar.

LIFE TERM: A court handed down life term and Rs200,000 fine each to two convicts in a murder case.

They will have to undergo six-month additional hard jail in case of default of payment.

According to the prosecution, Shahzad and Abid Ali killed a woman at Madu Khalil village on her refusal to develop illicit relations with them on May 1 this year.
