HYDERABAD, Nov 24: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has called upon the opposition to give up the politics of confrontation in view of the prevailing situation and work for the stability of the country.
He was speaking by telephone from London at an Iftar party arranged by the Muttahida in Latifabad-2 here on Monday.
Mr Hussain said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal which was terming the Legal Framework Order supra-constitutional should take a principled stand on the issue and resign from governments in the NWFP and Balochistan.
He said the opposition wanted to sabotage the democratic process by raising the LFO issue.
Mr Hussain claimed that the Muttahida had never supported a military regime and added that as long as Gen Pervez Musharraf remained the chief executive, his party had not sided with him. The Muttahida chief also spoke against religious extremism and hoped the people would reject it.
