US mediation sought for Kashmir

WASHINGTON, Nov 24: The Executive Director of the Kashmiri American Council, Dr Ghulam Nabi, has called upon the United States to make Kashmir “the centerpiece of its peace and non- proliferation strategy in South Asia.”

Addressing a gathering of scholars, Dr Fai said the bilateral talks between Pakistan and India or Kashmiris and India had remained unsuccessful for solving the Kashmir issue.

He asked the United States to appoint a special envoy for Kashmir. He said: “The United States should insist on the inclusion of the genuine representatives of the Kashmiri people at the negotiating table”.—APP
