QUETTA, Nov 24: The president of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Balochistan, Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasar, on Monday urged all the political forces to come forward for ousting the military generals from power.
Speaking at a press conference, he said the country had reached the brink of destruction in every field during last four years of military rule.
He said President Gen Pervez Musharraf had failed to implement his programme announced on Oct 17, 1999.
“The wrong policies of the rulers have put the country’s integrity at stake and weakened it in every field,” the PML-N leader said.
He said the opposition parties were making efforts for the restoration of the supremacy of parliament so that it could take decisions for the betterment of the nation.
He demanded that the president appoint a full-time chief of the army staff, withdraw all the military generals and other officers from different civilian posts and depute them for defending the frontiers.
“If Gen Musharraf wants to be the president, he should seek his election in accordance with the Constitution,” the PML-N leader said.
He said the Legal Framework Order could not be made a part of the Constitution until parliament approved it with a two-thirds majority.
He said the National Accountability Bureau should work under the control of the judiciary and not military officials.
He said the government should not make efforts to weaken the political parties and end support to the regional, ethnic and sectarian organizations.
He demanded that the “fake” cases registered against acting PML-N president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi be withdrawn and he be released.
