By Syed Irfan Raza
ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: Allama Sajid Hussain Naqvi, chief of Islami Tehrik-i-Pakistan (ITP) formerly known as Tehrik-i-Jafriya Pakistan met his counsel under the police custody on Sunday, police sources said.
The sources said advocate Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi, counsel for Allama Naqvi, met his client at a police station where the ITP chief was kept under physical remand. During the meeting Allama Naqvi told his counsel that he had no link with the assassination of Maulana Azam Tariq, chief of Millat-i-Islamia Pakistan (MIP) formerly known as Sipah-i- Sahaba Pakistan, the ITP sources said.
Allama Naqvi said he was the advocate of unity among the Muslims and thus he had played an active role in the formation of the Milli Yakjehti Council and Muttahidda Majlis-i-Amal, the umbrellas of various religious sects and organizations.
He said he had not met Sibtain Kazmi and Amanullah Siyal, the two other accused in Maulana Azam Tariq case for the last two years.
Allama Naqvi was arrested by Rawalpindi police from TJP headquarters at Saddiqabad and then he was handed over to Islamabad police
He would be produced before the court of a civil judge, Islamabad, on Monday on the completion of his seven-day physical remand.
