FAISALABAD, Nov 23: A medical board of the DHQ Hospital said in its report on Sunday that three newsmen and a shopkeeper were tortured.
The board, constituted on the orders of a local civil judge, examined newsmen Abid Nawab Toor, Yasir Nawab and Naeem besides shopkeeper Muhammad Zahid and found four to five serious injuries on their bodies.
Headed by the medical superintendent of the DHQ Hospital, the board comprises doctors Akram and Saleem.
The board referred Abid Nawab Toor to the ENT specialist as he had received serious injuries near his eyebrow and nose.
A Sargodha Road police team, headed by SHO Jamshed Chishti, had on Friday night raided offices of a weekly and picked up its staff. They were tortured in the police station as they had asked the police not to receive bribe from students Faqir and Jamshed. The police had also damaged the furniture of the office and taken away some precious articles. — Staff Correspondent
