ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: People thronged all bus terminals and railway station in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Sunday to reach their hometowns and celebrate Eid holidays with their loved ones.

Majority of people living in the federal capital belong to other cities and towns. Although, four gazetted Eid holidays will start from Wednesday, people started leaving the city on Sunday by taking two casual leaves for Monday and Tuesday.

During gazetted holidays, especially on Eids, people leave the capital to join their families back home, Tahir Rashid, a government employee, said.

The bus terminals at G-9 Markaz, F-8 Markaz, Peshawar More, and Pirwadhai remained crowded. Some verbal clashes were reported at bus terminals and railway stations, as people had to wait for hours to get seats.

Some of the passengers accused railways staff and porters of selling tickets on higher rates to those who could not made reservation in time. They also criticized the railways authorities for not running special trains on the occasion.

“People had reserved seats in trains a month before Eid or even before that, so how we can ignore them and issue tickets to the new comers,” a railways officer said.
