KARACHI: Sabzimandi to remain closed for two days

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 23: The fruit market at New Sabzimandi will remain closed for two days on account of Eid-ul-Fitr (i.e on Nov 26 and 27, 2003).

The Malir Fresh Fruits Merchants and Growers Association’s president, Haji Muhammad Javed, told Dawn that due to uninterrupted supply of fresh fruits in the market, their rates remained reasonable. In some cases, he said, the prices were even below the rates of last year.

Haji Javed said that had the authorities fixed the retail price keeping in view the daily auction, the benefit of supply of fruits in abundance in the market could be passed on to consumers.
