KARACHI, Nov 20: The federal anti-corruption court, headed by Judge Muneer Ahmed Khawaja, fixed December 4 for formal indictment of Sadarudding Ghanchi, a business tycoon, in a duty evasion case.
The businessman was arrested on September 17 by the Federal Investigation Agency for evading customs duty on palm oil.
The prosecution supplied the copies of relevant documents to the accused, who would be formally arraigned in the case on the next hearing.
Another case against Sadaruddin Ghanchi pertained to default on the payment of Rs40 million loan, secured from the National Development Finance Corporation in the name of West Pakistan Tank Terminal in 1997. His son, Hashim Ghanchi, was also wanted in the case.
BAIL GRANTED: The additional district and sessions judge, Malir, Abdul Kabeer Leghari, granted bail to two workers of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) in a robbery case.
Imtiaz Khan, in charge of a unit in Landhi, and Muhammed Atif alias Gola were booked and arrested by the area police in August this year in a robbery case. The judge gave them bail in the sum of Rs50,000 each.
NBWS: The judicial magistrate, Malir, G G Giani (repeat G G Giani) issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of as many as 29 workers of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD).—Staff Reporter
