GHALLANAI (Mohmand Agency), Nov 19: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah said that a bright career awaited the educated tribal women in every sphere of life and urged the tribal girl students to take full advantage of the facilities being provided to them at their doorstep.

He said this while inaugurating the newly-established Gove-rnment Girls’ Degree College at Ekkaghund on Wednesday.

The governor inspected various sections of the college and expressed satisfaction over the work. He took keen interest in the computer and science labs and also talked to the students.

During the day-long visit to Mohmand Agency, Mr Shah reviewed progress on a number of ongoing development schemes, besides inaugurating several other projects.

Later, the governor went to Bhai Dag in the border areas of Khoezai Baizai to inspect the development schemes being executed there.

Bajaur Agency Political Agent Sahibzada Mohammad Anees while briefing the governor informed that under the special package announced for Khoezai-Baizai areas, development schemes of communication, education, health, power and water supply had been planned and launched and many of them were in the completion stage.

In the education sector, the governor was told that in the Khoezai area, 28 primary schools, 10 community schools and nine girls middle schools had been completed, whereas in the Baizai area 45 community schools had been started. Out of these 45 community schools, 10 had been regularized, it was informed.

The governor was further told that the five community health centres had started working there and about 20 villages had been provided electricity, while the high-power transmission line was nearing completion.

The political agent also informed the governor that under the Bhai Dag master plan, tehsil building, a hospital and a high school were being constructed in the area.

On this occasion, the governor urged the executing agencies to accelerate the pace of work on certain ongoing development projects so that the tribesmen could be benefited as early as possible. He also directed that the main road linking the area to the Agency Headquarters must be completed by June.

The governor also inaugurated a rural health centre at Bhai Dag and later inspected the ongoing projects.

At Ghallanai, the governor also opened construction of a women hostel that would cost over Rs5 million.
