Haj team to review arrangements

ISLAMABAD, Nov 19: A two-member delegation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs was due to leave on Wednesday for Jeddah to review arrangements for Haj-2004.

The team, comprising parliamentary secretary for religious affairs Syed Asad Murtaza Gillani and Ministry of Religious Affairs Secretary for Zakat and Ushr Rashid Mehmood Ansari will particularly examine the accommodation arrangements for Pakistani pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah during their four-day official visit.

According to a official source here on Wednesday, the ministry has so far arranged residences for 64,000, out of about 70,000 intending pilgrims who opted for official lodging facility in Makkah and Madina during Haj-2004.

The process to make arrangements for the remaining 6,000 pilgrims was under process and would be ready well before the start of Haj, he added.—APP
