KARACHI: VC urged to reopen Honours admission

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 19: Students aspiring for admissions to Honours programme at the University of Karachi have appealed to the vice-chancellor to reopen the dates for submission of admission forms through the banks.

The students told Dawn that many candidates who had recently been declared to have passed the HSC annual examinations, under the revised results, would be deprived of opportunities to apply for admission, despite eligibility, at the university, if the dates were not opened again.

The BIE on Wednesday started issuing revised marks-sheets to those awarded grace marks up to one per cent, enabling them to pass the examination. Those declared pass in the second phase included one A grader, 97 B graders, 1913 C graders, 6347 D graders and 1401 E graders.

The University had fixed November 18 as the last date for submission of admission forms pertaining to BA (Honours), BSc (Honours) and B Com (Honours) and B Pharmacy lasses.

In the meantime some other students have also maintained that the time at their disposal proved short due to the reduced working hours in the month of Ramazan and they should be given some more time for submission of admission forms.

A senior KU official, when contacted, said that such claims were likely to be considered in a meeting of the admission committee to be held on Thursday.
