KARACHI, Nov 19: Sindh chief minister’s adviser for home, Aftab Shaikh, has showed displeasure over summoning of elderly and bearded people to police stations for their alleged affiliations with religious organizations.
He was talking to elderly people from various parts of the city who met him at his office on Wednesday.
Aftab Shaikh said he had received reports from various city areas that gangs of criminals were operating in posh localities and in the absence of snap police checking, mischievous and criminal elements were becoming bold and their activities were increasing.
He said it had come to his knowledge that some policemen had adopted the practice of arresting bearded people, bringing them to police station and threatening to show as members of banned religious organizations, should they fail to grease their palms.
The adviser warned such elements that strict action would be taken against them. He also issued instructions to all the TPOs in that regard.—APP
