KRL force PTV to follow-on

ISLAMABAD, Nov 17: Medium pacer Ali Naqvi captured five wickets for 28 runs on Monday as KRL forced PTV to follow-on in their Patron’s Trophy Qualifying round match at the KRL Stadium.

After his side had posted 278 in their first innings, Naqvi bowled to a good line and length to lead the rout of PTV who were dismissed for 123 runs. Paceman Jaffar Nazir also played his part taking three for 28 while Yasir Arafat took two for 51.

For PTV, only Taj Muhammad with a score of 42, did well with the bat.

Naqvi then continued his fine work in the second innings and had reduced PTV to 19 for three by the close of second day’s play. He gave away only 11 runs for his three scalps.

Earlier, KRL who had resumed at the overnight score of 184 for six were powered by a fine 86 by Yasir Arafat and Zulfiqar Jan’s unbeaten 46.

Khalid Latif with three for 57 was the PTV’s main wicket- taker.

Meanwhile, there was no play in the match between PTCL and ARL at the Shalimar Ground in Islamabad.

Overnight rain had left the square wet and unplayable. The umpires decided to call off play at 10.15am. Tuesday is the last day of the game.

KRL 278 in 63.4 overs (Yasir Arafat 86, Zulfiqar Jan 46; Khalid Latif 3-57, Suleman Khan 2-40, Adil Shaheen 2-42, Naseer Ahmed 2-59);

PTV 123 in 47.4 overs (Taj Muhammad 42; Ali Naqvi 5-28, Jaffer Nazir 3-28, Yasir Arafat 2-51) and 19 for three wickets in 8.3 overs (Ali Naqvi 3-11).

At Shalimar Cricket Ground, Islamabad: No play on second day.

PTCL 135 for one in 31 overs (Naveed Latif 44, Babar Naeem 41 not out, Sheraz Khalid retd hurt 29; Sohail Tanveer 1-29) v ARL.
