Student killed in accident

SAHIWAL, Nov 17: A commerce college student was run over and killed by a bus, here on Monday.

A number of students from various colleges, later, took out a protest procession and demanded immediate arrest of the bus driver.

Reports said Muhammad Shafiq was awaiting a bus at the Stadium Chowk when a rashly-driven bus (SL-2420) knocked him down. He was taken to a hospital where he died. The bus driver fled the scene.

Reacting to it, the students marched towards the District Headquarters Hospital as a protest, and demanded the authorities concerned that the driver should be arrested within 24 hours.

CASE REGISTERED: On the orders of a court, the Grain Market police on Monday registered a case against four officials of Saddar police station, Chichawatni, who had allegedly tortured the relatives of the PML-Q district secretary-general.
