BAHAWALPUR, Nov 17: The Pakistan Association of Dermatologists (PAD), Bahawalpur chapter, has launched a vigorous campaign to create awareness about the skin disease ‘Herpes’.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday, Bahawal Victoria Hospital’s dermatology ward incharge Prof Dr Muhammad Khalid and PAD office-bearers, including Prof Dr Jameel Shaheen, said that measures were being taken for educating the public about the disease, its treatment and precautionary measures.

They explained at length the causes, indications of Herpes and its treatment. They warned that patients with its indications should immediately approach the doctor for consultation and treatment.

For the first time in the country, they said a week to create awareness about this skin disease was being observed. They said that timely treatment could protect the people from its four sub-diseases — chicken-pox, Herpes Zoster, genital Herpes and simplex.
