KARACHI: Date, coconut trees start turning green


KARACHI, Nov 17: Some 98 per cent of 1,900 date and coconut trees planted in various parts of the city during the last few months have started turning green.

After this successful experiment, the parks department has been directed to further increase the number of such trees.

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, accompanied by DO (Parks), visited all those areas where the date and coconut trees had been planted.

The Nazim on Monday visited Ibn-i-Sina road, Sohrab goth, Rashid Minhas road, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, University road, Natha Khan, Sharea Faisal, Old Exhibition roundabout, Shahrah-i- Quaideen, mausoleum of Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Ghazi roundabout, Casino roundabout, Boat Basin, Mai Kolachi Bypass,

Amir Khusro Park, Clifton, and other areas and inspected the trees.—APP
