Dubai-based TV airs Saddam’s tape


DUBAI, Nov 16: The fight against Iraq’s US-installed Governing Council is “legitimate”, a voice purported to be that of ousted president Saddam Hussein said Sunday on Dubai’s Al-Arabiya television.

“Those who are installed by foreign armies ... are in the same situation (as the occupiers), and we have to fight them even before (we fight) the foreign armies,” said the voice.

“That is a legitimate duty, patriotic and humanitarian,” he said.

BUSH REACTION: Dismissing the latest tape reputed to be from ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein as propaganda, President George W. Bush vowed on Sunday the US would say in Iraq until the country is stabilized.

It’s propaganda. We’re not leaving until the job is done, pure and simple,” Mr Bush said. “A free and peaceful Iraq will be a historic event. And I’m sure he would like to see us leave.”—AFP
