LAHORE, Nov 16: Two goals each by Irfan Sheikh and Agha Murtaza Ali enabled Monroe to win the Haji Mian Shafi memorial polo tournament, beating Millat Tractors 5 1-2-4 at  LPC Ground on Sunday.

Monroe with a half goal handicap, extended their lead by scoring three goals in the first chukker 3 1/2-0. Feroze Gulzar drew first blood followed by a goal from  Irfan and Murtaza.

Murtaza slammed in his second goal in the beginning of the second chukker. But Millat retaliated with two goals to reduce the  margin  4-2.  Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana, who  struck three goals, scored the first while Ali Rizvi chipped in a goal.

Ahmad was in terrific form in the third chukker  and  scored back-to-back goals to make the score 4- 1/2-4.

Irfan banged home his second goal in the fourth chukker to seal the fate of the match.

A last-gasp goal by Ms Aftab Imam helped Data Hybrid Corn to claim the third position, beating AGri Mall Orange 4-3.

Agri made a fine start by scoring three goals in a  row after  a barren first chukker. Their Faaiz Rahim scored -back-to- back goals in the second chukker. Raja Amir Khan banged home  the third goal in the start of third chukker.

But Data staged a brilliant comeback by scoring four  goals. Umer Sadik scored back- to-back goals in the third chukker. -Agha Bilal chipped in a goal in the fourth chukker to level the -score 3-3 before Ms Aftab struck the winner.
