LAHORE, Nov 16: Aisam Qureshi of Pakistan defeated Herbert Wiltsching of Austria in the final of the ITF Futures International Tennis Championship in Nakhorn Ratchsima, Thailand, according to a message received on Sunday.

Playing under the scorching sun, Aisam displayed great stamina and resilience to overcome his strong opponent and no. 2 seed of the tournament.

Aisam’s serve was par excellence today as he hit aces liberally.

The first set was pocketed by him in 35 minutes with a score of 6-3 but the second set went the other way as he was broken at 2-3 and lost the second set with a 3-6 score.

From the very beginning of the third set Aisam further raised the level of his game and secured two early serve breaks to take the 4-0 lead.

At this stage Herbert struck back and succeeded to break back Aisam but could not pose enough resistance to stop him from winning the third set with a score of 6-2.

This is Aisam’s 23rd title in international tennis.—APP
