Headed by SI Abid Ali, a Chak Jhumra police party raided a house in the village to arrest three men wanted by NAB in a PARCO case. One arrested man, Muratab Ali, put up resistance and raised alarm.

Neighbours and relatives of the arrested men attacked the police party with sticks and pelted stones on them. As a result, sub-inspector Abid was injured. The attackers freed the arrested men.

Police registered a case with no arrest so far.

INJURED: Two men on a motorcycle shot at and injured a constable near Rasalewala on Sunday.

According to details, a police squad signalled two men on a motorcycle to halt on Rasalewala Road but the accused allegedly shot at and injured Constable Tariq and escaped.

Other policemen chased and arrested them after about half an hour encounter in Muzaffar Colony. One of the accused was injured in the crossfire.

Police identified them as Shahbaz Masih and Nadeem, residents of Dijkot, and claimed that they were wanted in a number of cases of murder, dacoity and kidnap for ransom.

A speeding long vehicle hit the motorcycle of Mushtaq Ahmad on Narwala Road. Mushtaq fell on road and died on the spot.

The area people, especially traders, became violent and blocked Narwala Road by erecting barricades.
