MINGORA, Nov 16: Police claimed to have busted a gang of car-lifters and arrested three accused in Khwazakhela early on Sunday morning.

The Khwazakhela SHO told reporters that the police had held three outlaws who had snatched a car from a man near Shin village.

The accused were identified as Dost Mohammad, son of Asal Khan, Baz Mohammad, son of Haider Zaman, and Tehsildar, son of Bijlo. All the three belonged to Batagram.

The accused reportedly had hired the vehicle for going to Kalam, but while on the way, they overpowered driver Mohammad Ismail after giving him some intoxicant in sweets for Iftar, tied him and took away the car.

The SHO claimed that the three accused were professional car-lifters and had stolen a number of vehicles from Dir, Malakand, Swat and other districts.

The driver, found lying on a roadside, was taken to a hospital where he was stated to be still unconscious.
