Minister caught taking a bribe

NEW DELHI, Nov 16: An Indian newspaper on Sunday claimed it had video evidence of Environment Minister Dilip Singh Judeo taking a cash bribe, kicking off a political storm ahead of crucial provincial elections in the minister’s home state.

The Indian Express in its lead story showed blurred images of a video cassette disc it claimed shows Judeo taking a wad of banknotes from a man called Rahul, and saying: “Money isn’t God but swear on God, it’s no less than God.”

The story claimed that Judeo took the money for alleged favours in mining businesses.

The main opposition Congress party immediately called for Judeo’s sacking and a police case against him.—AFP
