One run defeat for AASC

KARACHI, Nov 15: Bed & Bath CC kept their chances alive of reaching the quarterfinal of the Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan cricket festival league after beating Asghar Ali Shah CC by one run in a nail-biting finish at the Karachi Gymkhana ground on Saturday.

Batting first, Bed & Bath were dismissed for 169 runs in 23.4 overs with Riaz Ahmed (37), Nadeem Rao (35), Usman Farhat (28) and Basit Ali (27) among the runs. Aamir Rizwan picked up four wickets for 29 runs and Misbah Khan three for 20 for the fielding side.

After being comfortably placed at 70 for one, wickets began to tumble at regular intervals when Adam Khan four for 30 and Zeeshan Jamil two for seven, were introduced into the attack.

However with Farid Hasan two for 25 chipping in, Asghar Ali Shah CC were restricted to 163 runs after 25 overs with the last pair still at the wicket.

Malik Rasheed top scored for his side with 28 runs, and other contributions came through Asif Mughal (23), Rizwan Umer (22) and Ghayyasuddin (20).

Sunday’s fixture: Mohammad Hussain CC v Sui Southern Gas Co. 9-30 a.m. Umar CC v Godhra Sports 1-00 p.m.
