ABBOTTABAD, Nov 15: The district government of Abbottabad has abolished Chhajja tax on shops to give relief to traders after an anti-encroachment drive in Abbottabad.
A decision to this effect was taken on Friday at a district government meeting presided over by district Naib Nazim Barrister Javed Abbasi.
The meeting was told that Wapda had estimated the money at Rs4.2 million for the shifting of electric poles and laying of power supply lines in the city as after the removal of encroachments, many poles hampered the smooth flow of traffic.
Wapda would share Rs3.6 million while the district government would provide the remaining amount.
It was decided that in the second phase, encroachments would be removed from the cantonment area. The drive would be also extended to Galyat, Havelian and Nawnshehr.
Naib Nazim Javed Abbasi said the district government had planned to restore the beauty of Abbottabad city.
