Sindh sticks to crushing date

KARACHI, Nov 14: A three-day debate in the Sindh Assembly on the persisting dispute between sugarcane growers and mill owners ended on Friday with a declaration by Senior Minister for Finance Syed Sardar Ahmed that the provincial government stood by its decision to start sugarcane crushing season on November 15, and not on November 30 as decided by the federal government.

Members from both sides of the divide expressed their reservations over the federal government’s decision.
