Aisam cruises into semifinal

LAHORE, Nov 14: Pakistan’s top tennis star, Aisam-ul-Haq, crushed Cha Bo Ram of South Korea in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 to enter the semifinal of the International Futures Tennis Championship in Nakhorn Ratchsima, Thailand.

Earlier in the pre-quarterfinal Aisam outclassed Danish Davis Cupper Fredrick Nielsen too in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 but these were two tough and keenly contested sets.

In the first set Aisam took early lead and maintained it to close the set 6-3 in 40 minutes.

However the second set was won by him with much more difficulty and required a lot more solid performance from him.

Aisam was down 1-2 and 1-4 but recovered to make it 6-6 to force tie-break.

In the tie-break Aisam was at one stage down set point but with the help of an aggressive play he finally subdued his rival into submission to close the match 6-3, 7-6 (8).

Aisam had defeated India’s Mustafa Ghous 6-2, 6-3 in the first round.—APP
