KARACHI, Nov 14: Paceman Rizwan Saeed bowled Defence Housing Authority (DHA) to their third win in Patron’s Trophy qualifying rounds when they overwhelmed Pakistan Navy by 138 runs at PCB Regional Academy Ground on Friday.
Rizwan, who took five wickets for 20 runs in Navy’s first innings, snapped up four for 29 in another fiery spell as Navy were dismissed 143.
Veteran Jawwad Ali once emerged his team’s top-scorer with a gritty 42 with five boundaries and Muhammad Waheed made 35 hitting four fours.
This was Navy’s fourth successive defeat and remain pointless.
Rizwan ended with match figures of nine wickets for 49 runs. He received excellent support from left-arm paceman Nasir Khan, who grabbed three wickets for 78 runs in 20 overs.
The match turned out to be a memorable one for Rizwan as he also slammed a fine 60 in DHA’s second innings.
Navy made 122 in their first outing. DHA also made 122 in its first innings and were bowled out for 281 in their second innings thus setting a victory target of 282 runs for the sailors.
DHA secured another six points from the win and raised their tally to 27.
With two matches to go DHA are well placed to qualify for next stage starting next month.
Top two teams from each pool will advance to compete in Patron’s Trophy proper.

DEFIANT SABIR
PIA maintained their top position in pool “A” despite their three-day penultimate game against Dewan Farooqi Mators Ltd (DFML) ending in a draw at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.
DFML’s Agha Sabir hit an unbeaten 107 in second innings as they finished at 297 for four wickets when match was called off early with no chance of a result.
Sabir hammered 12 boundaries and faced 204 deliveries. He was well supported by Muhammad Masroor who cracked 62 not out in 103 balls with the aid of nine hits to the fence.
Masroor with Agha Sabir added 132 runs in 117 minutes for the unbroken fifth wicket stand. Sabir was also involved in 109 runs for third wicket stand with Rehan Rafiq, whose entertaining innings of 67 off 68 balls included seven boundaries and a six.
DFML were bowled out for 260 in their first innings allowing PIA to earn three points for the first innings lead having made 280 for eight.
PIA with 36 points after five matches are almost assured of a place in next stage of the competition.
