PESHAWAR, Nov 14: Inclement weather disrupted flight operation between Peshawar and Chitral valley on Friday, aviation officials said.

They said that PIA cancelled its fokker flight, PK-660, for Chitral due to cloudy weather in upper parts of the NWFP and the adjacent Northern Areas. The national airline operates one flight daily between Peshawar and the mountainous valley.

Light rains have been reported from Chitral district. However, the 3,200 metres high Lowari Pass, the only land route to the valley, remained open for light vehicles. Usually, the area remains cut off from the rest of the country in mid-November due to heavy snowfalls.

The provincial capital and its adjoining areas received light rain in the afternoon. Reports of light shower have also been received from other parts of the province and adjacent tribal areas. Minimum temperature was recorded at 11.5 degree centigrade in the city.

The local Met office has forecast cloudy weather in Malakand region, central and southern parts of the province during the next 24 hours.
