According to the bank sources, the forums will focus on current policy issues of interest to the government and civil society and disseminate best practice thinking in selected policy areas.

The target group for the proposed programme includes senior policymakers, parliamentarians, and members of the private sector and civil society institutions.

The first forum will be held here on November 17, which will be chaired by Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz. This will be followed by the forums in Lahore on November 19 to be chaired by Jahangir Tareen, adviser to the Punjab chief minister; and in Karachi on November 20 to be chaired by SBP Governor Dr Ishrat Hussain.

The topic of the seminar is ‘Industry in Pakistan: facing the challenge of international competitiveness’.—APP
