‘Paramilitary forces engaged in operation’

ISLAMABAD, Nov 11: ISPR Director-General Maj Gen Shaukat Sultan said on Tuesday that the paramilitary forces were carrying out operation against undesired elements in South Waziristan.

Talking to newsmen at an Iftar dinner, he said troops were deployed in the area but the paramilitary forces had been engaged to carry out operation there.

He said the troops along the Afghan border would not be kept there on permanent basis. The ground and air surveillance along the Afghan border had been intensified to check any possibility of infiltration, he added. He said the situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border was peaceful.—APP
