QUETTA, Nov 11: The Quetta police on Tuesday detained around 50 people in connection with three bomb blasts that rocked the city on Monday night.

Sources said police and other law enforcement agencies carried out raids in different parts of the city and rounded-up over four dozen people, including Afghan nationals with past criminal record.

“Around 200 Afghan nationals have been arrested during a swoop on illegal immigrants in the last three days,” a senior police officer said, adding that the campaign would continue.

The sources said Balochistan IGP Dr Shoaib Suddle had set up various teams of senior police officers to investigate the cases of rocket attacks and bomb blasts in the provincial capital.

“Soon we would be able to bust the gang involved in these incidents,” police sources said.

Chief Minister Jam Yousuf had directed the police chief and head of other law enforcement agencies to take all possible steps for the arrest of the culprits involved in the bomb blasts.

Meanwhile, condition of the police officials and two journalists who received injuries in Monday night’s bomb blasts, was stated to be satisfactory as they were receiving treatment in the Civil Hospital.

The bureau chief of a private TV channel, Ejaz Khan, who received serious injuries in his right eye, and other parts of the body, was shifted to the Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi.

The other Journalist, Mohammad Ajmal, was discharged on Tuesday.

A police constable and a sub-inspector of CID police, who were badly injured, were now improving and their condition was stable.

Provincial Health Minister Hafiz Hamdullah visited the Civil Hospital on Tuesday and directed the hospital authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to all the blast injured.
