KARACHI, Nov 11: The vice-chancellor, University of Karachi, Prof Dr Zafar Saeed Saify has said that BS (Agriculture) and BCom (Honours) classes would begin from January, next year, at the varsity.
He said the subjects would enable students to understand the problems of water shortage, salinity, use of pesticides, and business issues faced by the country.
Talking to newsmen on Tuesday he said that Science Faculty Dean Prof Dr Iqbal Mohsin had got approved the Agriculture syllabus from the faculty concerned, besides syndicate and senate.
The course would also enable the students to benefit from the latest technologies in agriculture to meet the needs of the country, the VC added.
Prof Saify said that the launching of the BCom (Honours) classes would help provide a competitive environment to the students willing to join the business community through achieving quality education.
He said the varsity was trying to obtain a piece of land for an agricultural research project on the Super Highway and for department of agriculture.—PPI/APP
