Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan told APP that the news had been received in Pakistan with deep shock and sorrow.

The government and the people of Pakistan convey their condolences and deepest sympathy to the government and the people of Saudi Arabia and the bereaved families, he said.

Mr Khan said terrorists had once again targeted the innocent civilians. These attack showed that no country in the world was safe from the dark designs of terrorists, he added.

“While condemning this horrified act Pakistan underlines the need for international community to step up its fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations until this menace is eliminated,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to information coming from the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh, all Pakistanis are safe in the Saudi capital. Eight Pakistani families are residing in the compound where the terrorist attacked but the members of all Pakistani families have been safely evacuated from the premises.—APP
