Ambassador calls on Blair, Straw

LONDON, Nov 9: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK Dr Maleeha Lodhi met British Prime Minister Tony Blair during the Remembrance on Sunday, held here annually to remember those who died fighting for Britain in conflicts across the globe.

On the occasion, she also met British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and Britain’s three services chiefs.

Dr Maleeha represented Pakistan at the Remembrance Sunday and led the first of the groups of Commonwealth envoys who attended the simple ceremony at the Cenotaph, a large war memorial in Whitehall where the Queen Elizabeth, Prime Minister Tony Blair, British ministers and other important leaders lay wreaths for those who sacrificed their lives in the First and Second World Wars and other conflicts.—APP
