Balochistan cabinet decides to step up security

QUETTA, Nov 8: The Balochistan cabinet has taken serious notice of the rocket attacks, bomb blasts and subversive activities in Quetta and Jaffarabad district and decided to strengthen the intelligence network and take special measures to stop these acts.

The cabinet, which met here on Saturday with Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf in the chair, reviewed the overall situation with a special reference to the subversive activities in different areas of the province.

It discussed the rocket attacks and bomb blasts incidents in detail and observed that more efforts were needed to stop such incidents in future.

The meeting decided that the provincial government would seek help and cooperation of tribal elders, political leaders, Nazims, councillors and the masses in taking action against the people involved in these illegal activities and maintaining law and order in the province.

The cabinet also decided to take effective measures to stop issuance of fake domicile certificates and national identity cards in the province. However, it expressed satisfaction over reduction in the overall crime rate during last year.

The provincial cabinet approved a summery regarding the revival of the Sandman Provincial Civil Hospital. According to the plan, one unit of the each three units of various departments would be shifted back to the civil hospital from the Bolan Medical Complex.

The hospital will be restored very soon as a complete teaching hospital and the people of Quetta will get another facility of a 550-bed hospital.

The cabinet was informed that with the revival of the hospital, a senior doctor, associate professor, registrar of all the shifted medical units and other medical staff would be appointed in the civil hospital.

The cabinet also okayed a plan to upgrade sub-tehsil Gandakha to tehsil and declared Sobatpur as a new tehsil in Jaffarabad district. It also allowed to establish Margala University in private sector and decided to submit a bill in the provincial assembly for the final approval of the university.

The meeting also approved a strategy regarding appointments, posting and transfers of the public servants and decided that implementation of the all rules, regulations and adopted policy would be ensured in this regard.

The provincial cabinet okayed an amendment to the Balochistan Evacuated Property Ordinance 1979, under which the evacuated property of the tribal areas could also be registered.

Taking notice of the price hike in Ramazan, the meeting directed the authorities concerned to take strict measures in this regard.

The cabinet also approved a suggestion to declare Quetta and Pashkak, a city of the Islamic Democratic of Kirgyzstan, twin cities due to their same traditions, customs and climate.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf directed the provincial ministers to pay visits to different areas of the province and review the development schemes and problems of the people.
