KARACHI, Nov 9: Chief of the Jamaat-i-Islami (women wing) Ms Aisha Munawwar has regretted that backward areas, slums and shanty towns had always been neglected and those who got themselves elected through the votes of the inhabitants of such areas were paying no attention to their uplift.
Ms Munawwar, an MNA belonging to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, was speaking after the inauguration of work for the reconstruction of a road in 11-G sector of New Karachi here on Sunday. The project is being financed through the MNAs’ fund for development.
Such localities, she observed, were extremely backward due to the continued neglect by relevant authorities. She attributed the prevailing conditions in the areas to the conspiracy hatched by bureaucracy and corruption elements.
“We have selected the locality for uplift work and will ensure improvement in condition of roads. We are determined to spend every penny of the allocated funds on the welfare of the people.”
She called for accountability of the members of the treasury benches with regard to the utilization of development funds. She declared that the MMA leaders would never resort to leave the country leaving the ¨people in the lurch.
