SAHIWAL, Nov 8: A senior clerk of the jail department escaped from the court of an additional district and sessions judge after cancellation of his bail in a case, here on Saturday.

Reports said a case of government vehicle’s log book theft had been registered against the senior clerk, Mumtaz Husain, on the report of superintendent of certified school on Oct 4 this year.

Reacting to it, the clerk manhandled the superintendent with the help of his two accomplices after which the Civil Lines police had registered a case against the three men under section 353, 186, 427, 380 and 337 PPC, but the suspect got his pre-arrest bail.

As the court cancelled his bail on Saturday, he escaped from the court in the presence of police.

NOTICES: Mepco on Saturday issued disconnection notices to 17 government departments for default of bills amounting to Rs10.3 million.

The departments include police, education and health. The district and tehsil Nazims, and superintending engineer, LBDC, are also among the defaulters.

ARREST: As many as 12 shopkeepers at the old green market were arrested for overcharging and not displaying official price list, here on Saturday.
