ISLAMABAD, Nov 7: The PPP has condemned the NAB for deceiving the people of Pakistan by wrongly claiming that the Swiss Police Tribunal had rejected former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s opposition to the Devaud finding.

In a statement issued here on Friday, PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar said the Police Tribunal in a written order had quashed the finding of Devaud and sent it back to the prosecutor- general.

Mr Babar said the lawyers for Ms Bhutto had placed on record that the service was not properly done at the addresses that were in the investigators file.

The Police Tribunal, noting that the lawyers were present, found that the purpose had been served through their presence. Nonetheless, the record at present correctly states the position held by the former premier.

The PPP spokesman said that the Islamabad regime had dropped corruption charges against the SGS after concluding that they did not bribe anyone. Therefore to allege that lawyer Jens Schelgelmilch was acting as a front man for Senator Asif Ali Zardari in the SGS was absolutely false and proved by the non pursuit of corruption charges against the SGS.

Mr Babar said that the dropping of the corruption charges against the SGS was a great victory for the PPP as the government had backtracked from its earlier claims.

The spokesperson said that the NAB has no evidence of wrongdoing and was wasting public funds through abuse of office, a crime that is punishable under Pakistan laws.
