HYDERABAD, Nov 7: Commission pass teachers of the Middle School Project observed token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Friday against the non-payment of their salaries for five months.

Talking to newsmen they said that 20 junior school teachers and high school teachers commission pass teachers of the Middle School Project had neither been regularized nor paid their salaries for the last five months.

They regretted that neither the officials of the education department nor teachers associations such as GSTA, SPLA and other organizations had taken any notice of their protest.

They said that they would hold a protest demonstration outside the Sindh Assembly, Governor House and Sindh Secretariat on Monday.

DEMO: The chairman, All Pakistan Technical Draftsmen Federation, Hafiz Matloob Ahmed Chishti, in a statement issued on Friday said that 40 engineers and assistant engineers of grade-17 and 18 of the local government department had not been given their posting orders for the last seven months which had created financial problems for them.

He said the families of the engineers will not be able to celebrate Eid in a befitting manner.

He appealed to the chief minister to order an inquiry into the inordinate delay in posting of these engineers.
