Maula Baksh’s last-gasp goal proves winner

LAHORE, Nov 6: A last-gasp goal by Maula Baksh helped Diamond Paints carve out a 5-4 win against Adisseo in the Seasons Canola polo tournament at LPC Ground on Thursday.

The first chukker ended 1-1 with Taimur Malik scoring for Adisseo first and Mir Shoaib restoring the parity for Diamond.

Adisseo increased the lead 3-1 in the second chukker when Shaukat Malik, who in all scored three goals, blasted back-to-back goals.

Diamond dominated the third chukker and surged ahead 4-3 for the first time when Baksh scored his first goal, converting a 40 yards penalty. Syed Hassan Raza and Hassan Ali Farrukh chipped in a goal each.

Adisseo neutralized the one goal lead at the start of the fourth chukker when Shaukat slammed his third goal. But Baksh converted a 40-yard penalty hit to score the match- winner.

Earlier, three matches of two chukkers each were played in which Agri Mall emerged victorious.

A five-goal burst by Malik Asif Tiwana helped Agri beat Olympia who had a half goal handicap 5-1/2.

Wali Oil beat Agri by virtue of their half goal handicap 3 1/2-3.

Raja Amir scored all the three goals for Wali Oil while Malik Asif struck two goals for Agri besides a goal scored by Tanvir Tariq.

Olympia defeated Wali Oil 3-2 1/2.

Abid Nawaz, Talha Saeed and Ahmed Zubair scored a goal each for Olympia.

Raja Amir scored two goals for Wali Oil. Half goal was the handicap.
