Umair and Nasir bowl DHA to second win


KARACHI, Nov 6: Debutant Defence Housing Authority (DHA) registered their second win in Patrons Cricket Trophy qualifying rounds, handing out 36 runs defeat on Dewan Farooqi Motors Ltd (DFML) at UBL Sports Complex on Thursday.

DFML set 214 to win in 60 overs were bowled out for 177 in their second innings. Match ended in the eighth mandatory over.

DHA pace trio of Nasir Khan, Umair Hasan and Rizwan Saeed ripped through DFML batting line-up.

Left arm Nasir snapped up five wickets for 55 runs in 17.5 overs. Umair claimed three wickets for 38 runs in 17 overs and Rizwan Saeed snatched two for 39 runs.

Zeeshan Khan emerged as their leading scorer with 58 with seven hits the boundary.

Earlier resuming at their overnight score off 77 for seven, DHA were dismissed for 123 in their second innings.

Azam Hussain cracked an attractive 46 in 78 balls with the aid of seven boundaries. Aamir Yousuf finished with six wickets for 33 runs.

DHA collected another nine points to finished with 18 points in two games.

CUSTOMS GRAB POINTS

Pakistan Customs collected three points for the first innings lead after the match against PWD ended in a draw.

PWD set to 231 to win in 29 overs, made 83 for three wickets in 22 overs when match was called off with mutual consent of two captains, seven overs early with no chance of a result. Faisal Athar hit fine 40 following his 85 in the first innings.

Earlier, Pakistan Customs were all out for 217 in their second innings after resuming at 5 for one wicket.

Bilal Khilji top-scored with 48 with six hits across the ropes and Rawait Khan contributing 38 with four fours.
